Ranking, Linking & Google Analytics

This week has such an enlightening week! It was very interesting to learn how to improve my SEO and how to best connect with others and link building. The key is figuring out what would be most effective for you business and industry and reaching out to businesses, influencers, individuals, using social media, and building relationships. But the thing that really stuck out to me this week was Google Analytics and how to use this tool effectively.  I honestly didn't realize how much there was on Google Analytics. They literally analyze everything imaginable. This whole semester, I didn't really take advantage of that mainly because I didn't know about it and didn't take the time to explore it more in depth. After doing the prep work this week, I loved seeing the different reports and different statistics that were offered and how to use this information effectively. This will help me as I continue to grow my business and as I go out into the workforce. I am excited to u...

Social Media

In today's world, it seems everyone has smartphones with their social media accounts just at their fingertips. Rather than talking to people while standing in line at the store, people typically choose to just scroll through social media to avoid appearing "awkward" and to have something to do. While there is definitely a problem with this scenario, there is also a lot of potential and success for the business and marketing world.  I always see ads, posts, comments, giveaways, deals, and other things on facebook for different pages and groups I follow that offer different goods and services. I honestly don't even know how many forms of advertising and marketing I am exposed to everyday. But the thought of my business being ones of those things that people see while scrolling on their phones, is very motivating to make a social media plan with both short and long term goals.  Social media has so many positives about it but the one that really stuck out to me when thin...

Landing Page Optimization and SEO!

Here are some of the biggest takeaways for the week and things that I want to work on in order to improve my site and its SEO!  Keywords again are the key! I need to incorporate these keywords throughout my entire website (header, title, body text, etc.) By doing so, different search engines such as Google will be able to recognize my site as a valuable source of information to whoever may have searched something that I offer.  I need to make my body text reliable and relevant to what I am offering on my site.  My headline and title should and need to match! This way whatever viewers click on will be exactly what they expected from the beginning.  A big thing that stuck out was the power of consistency. I need to be consistent with all of the data I provide to search engines to show that I really am relevant and reliable. I want not only the different search engines to understand this but also my viewers and potential customers. When they connect with my site a...

Ad Performance

Alright so I have my business up and running. All of the legal work taken care of. The site is built and user friendly. My products are ready to be purchased. But now is the time to find the customers. I have spent quite a bit of time this week working on and adjusting my ads in order to perform the best they possibly can. Here are a few things that I've done thus far... I have worked on making my keywords, ads, and landing pages all connect.  I got rid of keywords that have no clicks and are showing little to no success (though it is early on in my campaign and most of my keywords don't have high numbers yet).  I am testing out multiple ads to see which ones are the most successful.  I check google ads and analytics regularly (usually daily) so I can see where I can improve and what is working well.  I know there is still so much more to do in order to optimize my ads performance. These next couple of weeks will be interesting to see what works and what doesn'...

Quality Score

So why is our Quality Score actually worth something?? Because they can tell us where our ads are lacking, why we are (or aren't) getting as much traffic and success as we hoped we would, and can ultimately help us to build the best site possible. The best part is that there are countless way to improve our Quality Score. Nothing is ever final when building an ecommerce website and we always have the ability to change things to become better and more successful. Here are just a few of the things that stuck out to me this week in my research... Making specific ad groups that do not cover too many topics will boost your Quality Score and click through rate. Testing out different types of ads can also provide the feedback you need when determining which ones are most successful and what type of marketing strategies to use when going forward.  Work and adjust your landing page to make it relevant to your ads and what you are offering. Decreasing loading time and having it well or...

Google Ads

There are so many variations, combination, and possibilities when it comes to Google Ads. You literally could make hundreds of them and still never be successful when doing so if you are not making your ads in a way that will produce traffic on your site and boost your sales.  A few tips that stuck out to me this week was first, have a call to action! You want your ads to get people to actually do something. Yes people viewing your ads is good...and people viewing your site is even better. But people viewing your ads, visiting your site, and purchasing things, is the best. Adding words such as "buy" or "purchase" or "visit us today" can help leave an impression in people's minds and cause them to actually do something with all the stuff you are offering.  One more tip that really stuck out to me was  prices, promotions, and exclusives on your ad. If you are having a sale, put that on your ad! If someone sees that everything is 30% at your store right ...

Keywords are the Key!

This week in class was so insightful and actually a lot of fun! Setting up and publishing your website is just the beginning. There is so much more that needs to be done in order to get discovered, to get people to come to your website, and to shoots sales through the roofs. A big way to do that is through ads and campaigns.  When I was studying about keywords and how to come up with the best ones possible, there were a few things that stuck out to me. For instance, keywords are usually most successful when they are in short phrases. They need to be relevant to what your business is offering but also broad enough to attract a large number of individuals to your site. Keyword popularity is important as well! You want to choose keywords that people are actually going to use and search for! Or how else are they going to stumble across your website?? There is a lot of resources on the internet and videos that teach how to be most effective with your keywords and ads. I learned a ...
